Diagnóstico ambiental en el área de consulta externa del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso

Abstract

The Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital is a public institution that gives specialized attention in health to the local and regional population; however, it does not have an environmental impact study. The general objective of the project was to do an environmental diagnostic in the area of external consultation. The information gathered was used to identify the environmental aspects and the estimated electricity consumption, as well as the description of activities and determination of the areas of direct and indirect influence through field research, cartographic information and bibliography. For the identification and evaluation of environmental impacts, the Leopold Cause-Effect Matrix was used and the environmental management plan proposal was made according to the format of the Ministerial Agreement 061. The results showed that the generated impacts of the operations in the external consultation area are 22 interactions. The medical attention and the valuation process of the patient are causing the higher environmental impact because of the use of electricity. In addition, it was identified that the 15% of the impacts are positive, while the 85% are negative. The impact caused to the soil is more frequent in the activities of the external consultation area, while the impact to the air is the more significant. The estimated cost of the environmental management plan was 46.144.00 USD.
