| Abstract: | The present study aimed to determine frequency and sociodemographic characteristics of ametropias in children 7 to 12 years of age who attended the ophthalmological clinic Oftalmolaser in 2016. A descriptive study was carried out based on the review and analysis of the record of clinic record. The following results were obtained: among the sociodemographic characteristics of the 141 patients in this study, the highest percentage were those aged 7 years 28%, followed by children 12 years of age 17.7% and the lowest frequency was group of 10 years of age 11.8%, the predominant gender in the study group is the female with 51.8% against the male 48.2%, there is a higher frequency of patients with a family history of ophthalmological importance with 68.1%. In relation to the residence in urban zone there are majority with 58.2% and rural 41.8%. The frequency of emmetrope was 41.84%, and 58.1% presented ametropias and of these the most important is astigmatism 53.19% followed by myopia and hyperopia with 4.3% and 0.71% respectively. As for the clinical manifestations, eye irritation was the most common with 31.7%, blurred vision was 30.5% and astenopia was 24.4% |
| Description: | El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la frecuencia y características sociodemográficas de las ametropías en niños de 7 a 12 años de edad que acudieron a la Clínica Oftalmolaser en el 2016. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo basado en la revisión y análisis del registro de historias Clínicas. Obteniendo los siguientes resultados: entre las características sociodemográficas de los 141 pacientes de este estudio en cuanto a la edad los de mayor porcentaje fueron los de 7 años 28%, seguido por los niños de 12 años de edad 17.7% y la menor frecuencia fue el grupo de 10 años de edad 11,8%, el sexo que predomina en el grupo de estudio es el femenino con 51.8% contra el masculino 48,2%, existe mayor frecuencia de pacientes que tienen antecedentes familiares de importancia oftalmológica 68,1%, en cuanto a la residencia en zona urbana hay mayoría con 58,2% y rural 41,8%. La frecuencia de emétropes fue 41.84 %, y 58.1% presentaron ametropías y de estas la más importante es el astigmatismo 53.19% seguida por la miopía y la hipermetropía con un 4.3% y 0.71% respectivamente. En cuanto a las manifestaciones Clínicas la irritación ocular fue la más común con 31,7%, visión borrosa fue de 30,5% y astenopia de 24,4% |
