Propuesta urbana paisajística relación entre el centro histórico de Zaruma y el cerro Gordo

Abstract

The complex topographic composition of Zaruma, recognized for its peculiar urban layout, spatial distribution, and visual landscape richness, especially for it Centro Histórico, surrounded by imposing natural elevations, declared in 1990 as Cultural Patrimony of Ecuador, and since 1998 selected by the UNESCO to be recognized as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity; allows to have visuals with high landscape value, from and to the hills: Zaruma Urco, Calvario and Cerro Gordo, the latter of high historical, environmental, physical, functional and cultural value, which is the focus of this work. Unfortunately, due to the absence of regulations, guidelines or projects for the conservation and enhancement of the landscape, the Cerro Gordo has an impact on its environmental - urban - architectural composition, which has repercussions on its landscape characteristics, due to the incorporation of elements that attack its context visual, affections that reverberate in its visual - perceptive relation with the Historical Center, since Cerro Gordo is constituted as its scenic background in the eastern part; In addition, ignorance and lack of awareness of the population regarding the historical, natural and cultural value of the landscape have contributed to its progressive deterioration. Due to the characteristics, potentialities and peculiarities of Cerro Gordo, it is of fundamental importance to diagnose the central problems that affect it, to formulate proposals that improve the landscape through the regulation of environmental and urban - architectural interventions, involving the participation of its inhabitants and competent institutions; in order to improve the landscape image of the city.
