Abstract: | Background: Knowledge on HIV/AIDS infection plays an important role in the promotion of health and prevention of disease; the early initiation of sexual activity, not sustained use of condom use, number of sexual partners (1), and of the ignorance about the disease make Ecuador has a prevalence of 3.9%. (2)
Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and practices about HIV/AIDS among students in the educational unit César Dávila Andrade. Basin, 2017.
Methodology: A descriptive study, information was collected directly from students of the Educational Unit César Dávila Andrade using a data collection form which included: demographics, school children, marital status, residence, knowledge about HIV/AIDS, attitudes and beliefs. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 15.
Results: The 75.26% of the students have 17 years and a predominance of females (51.08%); 40.86% is in the third year, the Marital status Single (96.77%) and frequent urban residence (88.71%); 72.04% knows about the disease but the 70.96% is not able to establish the difference between HIV and AIDS, sex (47.84%) and blood transfusions (47.7%) are considered the most common infection; prevention campaigns (55.01%) and the educational institution (52.08%) provide information; the first sexual relationship occurred without the protection of 14-16 years with her boyfriend, currently 47.31% has had more than three sexual partners and the 72.04 does not use protection.
Conclusions: Students have poor knowledge about the disease it is necessary to implement educational programs on Sexual and Reproductive Health in the educational center to help responsible sexual behavior |
Description: | Antecedentes: El conocimiento sobre la infección por VIH/SIDA juega un papel importante en la promoción de salud y prevención de la enfermedad; el inicio temprano de la actividad sexual, el no uso sostenido del condón, mayor número de parejas sexuales (1) y el desconocimiento sobre la enfermedad hacen que Ecuador tenga una prevalencia del 3.9%. (2)
Objetivo: Establecer los conocimientos y prácticas sobre VIH-SIDA en estudiantes de la Unidad Educativa César Dávila Andrade. Cuenca, 2017.
Metodología: Estudio descriptivo, la información se recolectó directamente de estudiantes de la Unidad Educativa César Dávila Andrade utilizándose un formulario de recolección donde se incluyó: datos demográficos, escolares, estado civil, residencia, conocimientos sobre VIH/SIDA, actitudes y creencias. Los datos se analizaron en SPSS versión 15.
Resultados: El 75.26% de los estudiantes tienen 17 años predominando el sexo femenino (51.08%); el 40,86% está en tercer curso, el estado civil soltero (96.77%) y de residencia urbana el (88.71%); el 72.04% conoce sobre la enfermedad pero el 70.96% no logra establecer la diferencia entre el VIH y el SIDA. Las relaciones sexuales (47.84%) y las transfusiones sanguíneas (47.7%) son consideradas el contagio más frecuente; las campañas de prevención (55.01%) y la institución educativa (52.08%) aportan información; la primera relación sexual ocurrió sin protección a los 14-16 años con su novio/a, actualmente el 47.31% ha tenido más de tres parejas sexuales y el 72.04% no utiliza protección.
Conclusiones: Los estudiantes tienen deficientes conocimientos sobre la enfermedad siendo necesario implementar programas educativos sobre Salud Sexual y Reproductivas |
