Abstract: | BACKGROUND:
In Ecuador there are very athletes who maintain an adequate nutritional regime, we have not found current research that refers us as athletes are carrying their food today, therefore, having a general idea of the problem to be studied is difficult.
OBJECTIVE:
To describe the nutritional status of the athletes of the Sports Federation of Azuay, who practice the discipline of athletics in the city of Cuenca period October 2016 - June 2017.

To describe the nutritional status of the athletes of the Sports Federation of Azuay, who practice the discipline of athletics in the city of Cuenca period October 2016 - June 2017.
METHODOLOGY:
A prospective, descriptive, cross - sectional study was carried out between October 2016 and June 2017, the universe consisted of 31 athletes belonging to the Azuay Sports Federation of the city of Cuenca, aged between 14 - 18 years, the nutritional status was evaluated through an anthropometric assessment and an estimate of dietary intake. Then, with the information obtained, an adequate guide was developed on the correct nutrition that athletes who practice this discipline should have.
RESULTS:
The population was composed as follows: 45.2% were female and 54.8% were male, where 71% showed a high level of physical activity, that is, a normal weight according to the body mass index, a 6.5 % Presented low weight, while 12.9% overweight for age, the average percentage of localized body fat was 20.2%, with an unhealthy diagnosis or obesity for 2.3% of athletes. When interpreting the average arm circumference, it was found that 6.5% presents a risk of malnutrition, there is a deficit in the calorie intake in 58.06%, carbohydrates in 74.19% and fats in 48.3%, contrary to the protein intake is found high for 58.06% of the population.
CONCLUSIONS:
The values obtained show deficits of macronutrients and calories in the diet, according to the 24-hour reminders protein intake exceeds the recommendations, and athletes show a good nutritional status with the possibility of presenting long-term malnutrition problems of continuing with the current intake and a state of low weight and overweight in a small percentage. It is necessary to establish a nutritional education for parent, trainers and athletes in general as a corrective measure. |

En Ecuador existen pocos atletas con adecuado régimen nutricional, no hay datos actuales de investigaciones que refieran como se lleva la alimentación en el país, los datos son escasos para tener una idea general del problema.
OBJETIVO:
Describir el estado nutricional de los deportistas de la ¨Federación Deportiva del Azuay, que practican atletismo en la ciudad de Cuenca período Octubre 2016 – Junio 2017.
METODOLOGÍA:
Estudio Prospectivo, Descriptivo, Transversal, octubre 2016 - junio 2017, el universo fue de 31 atletas de la Federación Deportiva del Azuay en Cuenca, con edades entre los 14 – 18 años, se evaluó el estado nutricional mediante: valoración antropométrica e ingesta alimentaria. Con la información se elaboró una guía nutricional.
RESULTADOS:
El 45.2% sexo femenino y el 54.8% masculino, donde 71% manifiesta nivel alto de actividad física, según IMC un 6.5% presenta bajo peso mientras el 12.9% sobrepeso, el porcentaje promedio de grasa corporal fue 20.2%, con diagnóstico no saludable u obesidad para el 2.3%, al interpretar la circunferencia media de brazo el 6.5% presenta riesgo de desnutrición, existe un déficit en el ingesta de calorías el 58.06%, carbohidratos 74.19% y grasas 48.3% al contrario de la ingesta proteica elevado para el 58.06% de la población.
CONCLUSIONES:
Existe un déficit de macronutrientes y energía, la ingesta proteica excede las recomendaciones nutricionales, los atletas muestran un buen estado nutricional con posibilidad de presentar problemas a largo plazo, es necesario una educación nutricional como medida correctiva. |
