Abstract: | OBJECTIVE: to determine the frequency and characteristics of obstetric vio-lence in users treated in the gynecological-obstetric hospitalization area of Homero Castanier Hospital.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: this is an analytical, epidemiological, descrip-tive, transverse study. A data collection form was applied to 260 users of the Gineco-Obstetrics area of Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital who met the in-clusion criteria. The frequency of obstetric violence was reported, in addition to a descriptive analysis in which it is characterized
RESULTS: 64.61% of users reported having suffered from some kind of obstetric violence. The mean age was 25,4 years, the group of patients who most frequently indicated were exposed to it were: women with ages equal or less than 20 years with 32.1% Those who completed highschool with 32.5%, 86.9% of mestizo ethnic groups, 53.6% of women who liven in urban areas and 56% of multiparous women, only 6.9% of the users surveyed knew the term Obstetric Violence. Regarding the types of obstetric violence, 48.8% reported violence against the female body, 43.8% reported violence in comunication, 16.9% violence in the provision of services, 17.3% indicated violence against their rights, and finally 41.9% of users presented violence in relations of power.
CONCLUSIONS: The frequency of obstetric violence was 64.61%.

Description: | OBJETIVO: determinar la frecuencia y características de violencia obstétrica en usuarias atendidas en el área de hospitalización de gineco-obstetricia del Hospital Homero Castanier.
MATERIAL Y METODOS: estudio descriptivo, epidemiológico, retrospectivo y transversal. Se aplicó un formulario a 260 usuarias del área de Gineco-Obstetricia del Hospital Homero Castanier Crespo que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión. Se reportó la frecuencia de violencia obstétrica y se la caracterizó.
RESULTADOS: 64,61% de usuarias refirieron haber sufrido algún tipo de vio-lencia obstétrica. La edad media fue de 25.4 años, el grupo de pacientes que estuvieron más expuestas a la misma fueron: las mujeres con edades de 20 años o menos con un 32,1%, con secundaria completa el 32,5%, un 86,9% de etnia mestiza, el 53,6% de las que residían en áreas urbanas y un 56% de multíparas, y solo el 6.9% conocían el término de violencia obstétrica. Según los tipos de violencia obstétrica la mayoría refirió violencia contra el cuerpo fe-menino con un 48,8% y el 51,2% no la presentó, el 43,8% sufrió violencia de comunicación frente a un 56,2%, el 16,9% violencia en la prestación de servi-cios versus un 83,1% quienes indicaron que no la sufrieron, un 17,3% indicó violencia en contra de los derechos, finalmente un 41,9% de usuarias presentaron violencia en relaciones de poder contra un 58,1% que refirieron no haber estado expuestas.
CONCLUSIONES: la frecuencia de violencia obstétrica fue de 64,61%, y la mayoría de usuarias no conocen el término de violencia obstétrica |
