Niveles de ansiedad en familiares responsables del internamiento en pacientes drogodependientes

Abstract

This objective of this study is to determine the level of anxiety that might experience family members responsible for the hospitalization in drug-dependent patients. The research was carried out with a quantitative-longitudinal approach of descriptive-associative scope. Data collection was performed using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and a sociodemographic survey. The sample consisted of 40 relatives who were legally responsible for the hospitalization of drug-dependent patients in the CETAD (Specialized Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment). Towards a new life, family members are in an age range from 18 to 65. Two stages were considered to collect data, which were the initial (admission) and the final (exit). Data analysis was performed with the help of the statistical tool SPSS 2.4. A higher level of moderate anxiety was presented in the results obtained from the (initial) stage, while in the final stage the level of anxiety that stood out was severe. It was also found severe anxiety levels in mothers and wives unlike parents who showed slight levels of anxiety. Another important fact of our study was that the lack of schooling did not differ between the population with higher education giving the same anxiety levels. Finally, anxiety levels in reference to sex, they are severe in women and slight in men.
