Abstract: | Central obesity is currently a good predictor of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases such as hypertriglyceridemia, low levels of c-HDL fasting glucose disturbances and hyperuricemia.
OBJECTIVE
To determine the prevalence of central obesity and associated factors in the 20 years and older of District 01D04 Gualaceo-Chordeleg during 2016.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
An analytical cross-sectional study was performed. The universe was unknown. Sampling of 250 probabilistic patients by two-stage clustering. Data are tabulated in SPSS version 20.0. The characterization of the population is done through descriptive statistics; Measures of central tendency; The statistical association was measured with RP, the 95% confidence interval and values of p <0.05 were considered statistically significant. In addition, a multivariate analysis was performed.
RESULTS
Of the population studied, 57.2% were female. The mean age of the group was 45.4 years (SD 17.6). Prevalence of central obesity was 81.6%. Positive association with low c-HDL was found with RP 1.25 95% CI (1.12-1.39) and p value 0.000. Glucose altered in fasting with RP 1.23 95% CI (1.12-1.34) and p value 0.003. And in the multivariate analysis for every centimeter that increases the abdominal perimeter, the blood glucose would go up 0.091 mg / dL (p 0.003); For each centimeter that increases the abdominal perimeter c-HDL decreases 0.120 (p 0.030); And for each year that increases the age the abdominal circumference increases 0,148 cm (p 0,000).
CONCLUSIONS
The prevalence of central obesity was 81.6% and had a positive association with low c-HDL cholesterol levels and impaired fasting glucose |
