| Abstract: | The various approaches that, over time, have been developed and applied to study the urban, have privileged the visible city, the matter, the physical universe; it mean, the city itself such as spatial geographic dimension (the ecology of living) and not the urban as an socio-cultural and anthropological dimension (the culture of living).
The analysis of the material conditions of the city while it is necessary, is not sufficient, since the city is also a stage of desires of evocations and dreams of its inhabitants who, on a daily basis and relentless way, are building one or multiple images of her. This article, which is part of a research project on urban imaginaries, deals precisely the reflection on the city understood as a place of cultural event and scenario of an imaginary effect, the symbols on it built by its own inhabitants; that hidden or invisible city which constitutes a complex network of symbols in permanent construction. In this framework, we focus on the notion of territory, conceived as a cultural construction and its relationship with the imaginary and the symbolic. |
| Description: | Los diversos enfoques que, a través del tiempo, se han elaborado y aplicado para estudiar lo urbano, han privilegiado la ciudad visible, la materia, el universo físico; es decir, la ciudad propiamente como dimensión espacial geográfica (la ecología del habitar) y no lo urbano como dimensión sociocultural y antropológica (la cultura del habitar).
El análisis de las condiciones materiales de la ciudad si bien es necesario, no es suficiente, ya que la ciudad también es un escenario de deseos de evocaciones y de sueños de sus habitantes que, cotidianamente y de manera incesante, van construyendo una o múltiples imágenes de ella. El presente artículo, que es parte de un proyecto de investigación sobre los imaginarios urbanos, aborda, precisamente, la reflexión sobre la ciudad entendida como lugar del acontecimiento cultural y escenario de un efecto imaginario, los símbolos que sobre ella construyen sus propios habitantes; esa ciudad oculta o invisible que constituye una compleja red de símbolos en permanente construcción. En este marco, nos centramos en la noción de territorio, concebido como construcción cultural y su relación con lo imaginario y lo simbólico. |
