An analysis of the current state of the churches in Ibarra, rebuilt from the
year 1868 after the earthquake and the ones build after takes place, is
conducted in order to determine the evolution in terms of parameters such
as the spatial configuration and use of building materials, both inside space
and facade. Records of every church, including floor plans, photographs of
the current state and description of the architectural configuration, structural
materials, main facade, interior finishes and cover are made. Data collection
are done through a bibliographical analysis and field research corroborated
the data obtained in the revised documentation. Exists a chronological
evolution in the typology of churches: basilica, vaulted room with a flat roof
and unique space, as happens on the facades, giving those different
treatments, depending on the time when they were built.

Se realiza un análisis del estado actual de las iglesias de Ibarra
reconstruidas a partir del año 1868 después del terremoto y las
realizadas posterior a éste para poder determinar la evolución, en
cuanto a parámetros como la configuración espacial y al uso de materiales
constructivos, tanto en el espacio interior como en fachada. Se realizan fichas
de cada iglesia que incluyen planos de planta, fotografías del estado actual y
descripción de la configuración arquitectónica, materiales estructurales,
fachada principal, acabados interiores y cubierta. La recopilación de datos se
realiza a través de un análisis bibliográfico y una investigación de campo
corroborando los datos obtenidos en la documentación revisada. Existe
evolución cronológica en la tipología de iglesias: basílica, sala con bóveda y
con techo plano y de espacio único así como fachadas con diferentes
tratamientos según su época de construcción.
