| Abstract: | Background: for years and now we have a high rate of unwanted pregnancies, pregnancies in adolescents, besides morbidity and mortality due to pregnancy itself(1) Contraceptive methods are fundamental in family planning, among them we have the subdermal implant, having a (68.0%), weight gain (20.7%), acne (15.3%), mastalgia (9.1%), Headache (8.5%) and others. (2)
Objective: to identify the characteristics of the use and adverse effects of the subdermal implant in women of reproductive age in the health center Barrial Blanco, Cuenca 2016.
Methodology: the study was a cross-sectional, descriptive study. The sample consisted of 121 users of the subdermal implant as a contraceptive method in the last three years (2014-2016) belonging to the Barrial Blanco, Cuenca, Azuay health center. This research was conducted through surveys. To process the information we used the programs SPSS 21, Excel, Word and for the presentation of the results we used tables, and the analysis was based on statistical measures of frequency and percentages.
RESULTS: of the 121 users of the subdermal implant, 95% presented some type of adverse effects, the alteration of menstrual bleeding was present in 60.3%, weight gain in 34, 7% and headache-migraine in 31 ,4%.
Conclusions: the adverse effects of the subdermal implant, regardless of its severity, are present in most users. These effects are mainly expressed in the first trimester after implant placement |

Antecedentes: durante años y actualmente tenemos una alta tasa de embarazos no deseados, además de morbilidad y mortalidad importante por el mismo. Los métodos anticonceptivos resultan fundamentales en la planificación familiar, entre ellos tenemos el implante subdérmico, con una alta eficacia (99%), pero presenta efectos adversos como: sangrado vaginal irregular, aumento de peso, acné, mastalgias, cefalea y otros.
Objetivo general: identificar las características del uso y efectos adversos del implante subdérmico en mujeres en edad reproductiva en el Centro de Salud Barrial Blanco, Cuenca 2016.
Metodología: el estudio fue de tipo transversal, descriptivo, la muestra fue de 121 usuarias del implante subdérmico como método anticonceptivo en los años 2014-2016 pertenecientes al Centro de Salud Barrial Blanco, Cuenca, Azuay. Esta investigación se realizó a través de encuestas. Para procesar la información se utilizó los programas SPSS 15, Excel, Word y para la presentación de los resultados empleamos tablas, y el análisis se basó en medidas estadísticas de frecuencia y porcentajes.
Resultados: de 121 usuarias del implante subdérmico el 95% presentó algún tipo de efecto adverso, la alteración del sangrado menstrual estuvo presente en el 60,3%, aumento de peso en el 34 ,7% y cefalea –migraña en el 31,4%.
Conclusiones: los efectos adversos del implante subdérmico independientemente de su gravedad está presente en la mayoría de las usuarias, los cuales se manifiestan en gran parte en el primer trimestre tras su colocación |
