| Abstract: | The present study aims to determine the prevalence, grade and type of tooth wear in students of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Cuenca. Methods and materials. A descriptive study was conducted, where the sample was constituted by 151 students. In order to realize this study, it was carried out a dental clinical examination to evaluate the following factors: tooth wear, grade and type of tooth wear (abrasion, attrition, erosion, abfraction). Results: The results showed that there is a prevalence of dental wear of the 77.5% corresponding to 117 students. In terms of age, the group with more relevance was the 18 to 21 years who presented a 35.8%. It was also found a greater prevalence of tooth wear in the females with a 47%. Finally, attrition was the type of tooth wear more frequent with a 60.3%, which represents 91 students |
| Description: | El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la prevalencia, grado y tipo de desgaste dental en estudiantes de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca. Material y métodos. Se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo, donde la muestra estuvo constituida por 151 estudiantes, en los que se realizó un examen clínico odontológico y un cuestionario para evaluar los siguientes factores: desgaste dental, grado de desgaste dental, tipo de desgaste dental (abrasión, atrición, erosión, abfracción). Resultados: Los resultados demostraron una prevalencia de desgaste dental del 77,5% que corresponde a 117 estudiantes, con respecto a la edad, el grupo de mayor relevancia fue el de 18 a 21 años, quienes presentaron un 35,8%, se encontró un mayor predominio de desgaste dental en el sexo femenino con el 47,0% y finalmente la atrición fue el tipo de desgaste dental más frecuente con un 60,3% que representa a 91 estudiantes |
