| Abstract: | OBJECTIVE: To determine the efficacy of nutritional treatment of obese patients aged 20 to 64 years old who attended the Nutrition and Dietetics outpatient clinic at Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital from April 2014 to April 2016.
METHODOLOGY: This was a descriptive, longitudinal, and retrospective study that evaluated the weight loss of obese patients who attended the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital outpatient clinic for 12 uninterrupted monitoring sessions between April 2014 and April 2016. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the study population consisted of 40 cases, out of a total of 1974 clinical records reviewed. The data collection was done using a digital database in Microsoft Excel 2010 and the results were analyzed in SPSS software statistics version 18.
RESULTS: Women between 40 and 59 years old made up 87.5% of the study population. At the start of the study, 55% of cases were classified as Grade III obesity, 32.5% as Grade II obesity, and 12.5% as Grade I obesity. At the end of the study, 40% were classified as Grade III obesity, 22.5 % as Grade II obesity, and 30% as Grade I obesity. The remaining 7.5% of patients became classified as overweight.
CONCLUSION: Nutritional treatment was effective (loss of ≥10% of initial weight) for 52.5% of the cases and ineffective for 47.5%. It was shown to be more effective in the female population, from the Sierra (mountains), from the urban area, and from ages 21 to 49 years old |
| Description: | OBJETIVO: Determinar la eficacia del tratamiento nutricional de los pacientes con obesidad de 20 a 64 años de edad que acudieron a consulta externa de Nutrición y Dietética del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en el período abril 2014 – abril 2016.
METODOLOGÍA: Estudio descriptivo, longitudinal y retrospectivo donde se evaluó la pérdida de peso de pacientes obesos que asistieron a consulta externa del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso por 12 controles continuos, entre el período abril 2014 – abril 2016. Según con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, el universo fue conformado por 40 casos, de un total de 1974 historias clínicas revisadas. El levantamiento de datos se realizó mediante una base de datos digital en Microsoft Excel 2010. Los resultados fueron analizados en software estadístico SPSS versión 18.
RESULTADOS: El 87,5% del universo fue conformado por personas del sexo femenino, entre 40 a 59 años de edad. Al inicio del estudio se encontró un 55% de casos con obesidad grado III, el 32,5% obesidad grado II y 12,5% obesidad grado I. Al finalizar el estudio, hubo un 40% de obesidad grado III, 22,5% de obesidad grado II y 30% de obesidad grado I. El 7,5% de pacientes llegaron a sobrepeso.
CONCLUSIÓN: El tratamiento nutricional fue eficaz (pérdida de ≥10% de peso) para el 52,5% de los casos e ineficaz para el 47,5%. Se reflejó mayor eficacia en personas de sexo femenino, provenientes de la Sierra, de la zona urbana y en edades entre los 21 a 49 años |
