Impacto de la migración en los comportamientos sexuales y reproductivos de las y los adolescentes en el Colegio Nacional Ingapirca del cantón Cañar. Ecuador 2016

Abstract

Objective: To determine the impact of migration on the sexual and reproductive behaviors of the Ingapirca National high school students. Canton Cañar, Ecuador 2016 Methodology: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, carried out in Ingapirca, in the province of Cañar, with the participation of the students of the Ingapirca National high school, which has 357 students, all students who attended regularly and are Age between 10 and 19 years, as long as they do it in a freeway And voluntary. Expressing it with his signature on the informed consent. Results: The average age of adolescents was 16 years, 4% worked, 42.7% of adolescents did not live with their father and 15.4% did not live with their mother in the last three years. The prevalence of parental migration was 45%, most of them presented high self-esteem (67.1%); however, there were 1.4 (95% CI: 1.05-1.78) times more probabilities of unhappiness in adolescent children of migrants. The perception of gender shows that the majority (60%) reject statements that involve gender discrimination. Adolescents do not have enough knowledge about sexual and reproductive health, 70% have not done a sexuality consultation at the health center; 20% of the adolescents studied have already experienced sexual intercourse, most were between 15 and 17 years of age. There was found to be 1.5 times more likely that a teenager had sex when his parents had emigrated, and there were almost 2 times more likely that a teenager embarrasses someone, or if she is a woman to become pregnant when her parents are migrants. Conclusion: Most adolescents do not have enough knowledge about sexuality, their sources of information are the internet or written media. They do not look up for help from a health professional because of the difficulty of access and waiting time. In addition it was found a direct relation between the beginning of sexual relations, the adolescent pregnancy and the migration of their parents
