| Abstract: | Background: Alcohol consumption in adolescence is frequent, studies reveal that consumption is associated with some social determinants.
Objective: to identify the prevalence of alcohol consumption among adolescents at Daniel Córdova Toral School in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador and its relationship with social determinants.
Materials and methods: cross-sectional quantitative study, 218 adolescents. A form was used for data on demographic variables, family structure and migration. For the prevalence of alcohol consumption, the DSM5 diagnostic criteria were used, for the FF-SIL family test and for the FANTASTIC lifestyle test. To determine the level of association between social determinants and alcohol consumption, PR was obtained with its 95% CI, and to determine statistical significance, p value was obtained by Chi square, being statistically significant when p was less than 0.05.
Results: The prevalence of alcohol consumption was 42.2%; They come from a nuclear household 56%, 55% have a migrant family, have a good lifestyle 39% and 50% belong to moderately functional families. Having a migrant family member, having a bad lifestyle, belonging to a reconstituted and dysfunctional family are risk factors for alcohol consumption.
Conclusion: Alcohol consumption is higher than reports of other studies conducted in the city of Cuenca and is associated with the social determinants studied |
| Description: | Antecedentes: El consumo de alcohol en la adolescencia es frecuente, estudios revelan que el consumo se encuentra asociado a algunos determinantes sociales.
Objetivo: identificar la prevalencia de consumo de alcohol en los adolescentes del colegio Daniel Córdova Toral de la ciudad de Cuenca-Ecuador y su relación con los determinantes sociales.
Materiales y métodos: estudio cuantitativo observacional transversal, muestra 218 adolescentes. Se utilizó un formulario para datos de variables demográficas, estructura familiar y migración, para la prevalencia de consumo de alcohol se usó los criterios diagnósticos del DSM5, para el funcionamiento familiar el Test FF-SIL y para el estilo de vida el test FANTASTIC. Para determinar el nivel de asociación entre los determinantes sociales y el consumo de alcohol, se obtuvo la RP con su IC 95%, y para determinar la significancia estadística, se obtuvo el p valor mediante el Chi cuadrado, siendo estadísticamente significativo cuando la p fuera menor a 0.05.
Resultados: La prevalencia del consumo de alcohol es del 42,2%; provienen de un hogar tipo nuclear el 56%, el 55% tienen familiar migrante, tienen un buen estilo de vida el 39% y el 50% pertenecen a familias moderadamente funcionales. Tener un familiar migrante, poseer un mal estilo de vida, pertenecer a una familia reconstituida y disfuncional son factores de riesgo para el consumo de alcohol.
Conclusión: El consumo de alcohol, es mayor que reportes de otros estudios realizados en la ciudad de Cuenca y se encuentra asociado con los determinantes sociales estudiados |
