| Abstract: | BACKGROUND. - Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are a group of diseases caused by different germs; they are the leading cause of morbidity worldwide. The presence of these in children under 5 years of age is independent of the living conditions and level of development. The reality of "Mariano Estrella" Hospital does not deviate from national, it is why during the experiences in different areas of health, and there has been difficulty in the implementation of the IMCI strategy and its relationship with knowledge or ignorance of ARIs by mothers who come to the consultation.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE. - Determine knowledge of Acute Respiratory Infections by IMCI in mothers of children under 5 years in the "Mariano Estrella" Hospital. Cuenca, April-October 2016.
METHODOLOGY. - Is a descriptive quantitative research, the study population was represented by all mothers of children under 5 years attending the outpatient area of the "Mariano Estrella" Hospital.
A structured survey based on items used in previous studies, with the respective pilot control and signing the informed consent form was used for data collection; results with a database in SPSS 15.0 software was created and percentage frequency tables and presented with their analysis.
RESULTS. - The survey of 170 mothers, it indicates that 73.5% have a good knowledge level, 25.3% have a regular knowledge level, and 1.2% has a deficient level of knowledge |
| Description: | ANTECEDENTES.- Las Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas (IRAs) son un grupo de enfermedades causadas por distintos gérmenes; constituyen la primera causa de morbilidad a nivel mundial. La presencia de estas en menores de 5 años de edad es independiente de las condiciones de vida y grado de desarrollo. La realidad del Hospital “Mariano Estrella” no se aparta de la nacional, es por eso que durante las experiencias vividas en las distintas áreas de salud, se ha observado dificultad en la aplicación de la estrategia AIEPI y su relación con el conocimiento o desconocimiento de las IRAs por parte de las madres que acuden a la consulta.
OBJETIVO GENERAL.- Determinar los conocimientos sobre Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas según AIEPI en madres de niños menores de 5 años en el Hospital “Mariano Estrella”, Cuenca, Abril - Octubre 2016
METODOLOGÍA.- Es una investigación cuantitativa de tipo descriptivo, la población de estudio estuvo representado por todas las madres de niños menores de 5 años que acudieron al área de Consulta Externa del hospital “Mariano Estrella”.
Para la recolección de información se utilizó una encuesta estructurada basada en ítems aplicados en estudios anteriores, con el pilotaje respectivo y previo la firma del consentimiento informado; con los resultados se creó una base de datos en el programa SPSS 15.0 y se presenta tablas de frecuencia y porcentaje con su respectivo análisis.
RESULTADOS.- La encuesta realizada a las 170 madres, indica que 73.5% tienen un nivel de conocimiento bueno, 25.3% tienen un nivel de conocimiento regular, y el 1.2% tiene un nivel de conocimiento deficiente |
