| Abstract: | Background: Overweight and obesity are part of a pandemic that accelerates on a large scale. It brings with it serous consequences to health because it is one of the principal cardiovascular illness that can cause a big risk of a premature death. The public health system in the whole world must resolve this problem with prevention politics.
Methods: it was investigated in a sample of 123 adult patients from external consultation in nutrition and endocrinology areas from Vicente Corral Moscoso hospital in Cuenca - Ecuador, during the period from the year 2015, with overweight and obesity diagnosis, whom agreed to be part of this descriptive investigation, in a cross section it determined the general clinical characteristics and the laboratory's patients with excess weight overweight and obesity it is associated with age, sex and HOMA index.
Results: the weight excess affects more the female and the young adults. It was noted as the IMC value is higher; the presence of (acanthosis nigricans) is more often, it is the same relation to alterations of HDL, LDL, HOMA and triglycerides, which ones show as altered.
Conclusion: overweight and obesity are problem which are linked to a social and biological variables that can be prevent only if it start to have several nutrition adjustments and physical activity since young ages |
| Description: | Antecedentes: el sobrepeso y la obesidad constituyen una pandemia que incrementa a escala. Trae consecuencias graves a la salud como enfermedades cardiovasculares que ponen en riesgo de muerte prematura. Los sistemas de salud a nivel mundial deben establecer medidas que desaceleren este problema, con políticas de prevención.
Métodos: Se investigó una muestra de123 pacientes de consulta externa de las áreas de nutriología y endocrinología, adultos, del hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, de la ciudad de Cuenca – Ecuador, durante un periodo de tres meses, diagnosticados de sobrepeso y obesidad que consintieron participar en el estudio. Se realizó una investigación descriptiva, que determinó la frecuencia de las características clínicas y de laboratorio de los pacientes con exceso de peso y la asociaciónentre IMC con estas.
Resultados: El exceso de peso afecta más al sexo femenino y adultos jóvenes. observando que a medida que elvalor de IMC es mayor, la presencia de acantosis nigricans es más frecuente, existiendo la misma relación con las alteraciones de HDL, LDL, HOMA, y triglicéridos los cuales estan alterados.
Conclusión: El sobrepeso y la obesidad son problemas ligados a características clínicas y de laboratorio presentes en pacientes con este diagnóstico,viéndoseasí asociación entre IMC con acantosis nigricans que esmás frecuente mientras mayor es el IMC; asociación con perímetro abdominal, siendo este mayor mientras mayor es el IMC, por último la asociación con alteración en valores de LDH, HDL, HOMA y triglicéridos |
