Prevalencia y factores asociados a reacciones adversas por infliximab en pacientes con artritis reumatoidea, en el Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga de la ciudad de Cuenca en el período 2010-2014

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis has been modified with the introduction of monoclonal antibodies, which allowed good control of the disease. However, treatment is associated with adverse reactions. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and risk factors associated with adverse reactions from the use of Infliximab for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in patients of José Carrasco Arteaga hospital in 2010-2014. METHOD: A prevalence study of analytical, cross-section was performed, with a universe of 120 patients diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis receiving Infliximab in José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital of which 91 patients were admitted in the study because they had all variables to be analyzed. The data were obtained from the development of a form made from medical records. Data was analyzed using SPSS, a descriptive variables and association analysis, presented throught ables was used. RESULTS: A total of 91 patients, 78.02% female, median average age of 50 years. The overall prevalence of adverse reactions to infliximab came to 16.48%; these increased with treatment time, 20% at baseline to 46.67% at the end. The adverse reaction to the infusion and more frequent administration was urticaria, with 4.40% and 3.30%; the most common infections were upper respiratory tract, 10,99%. The risk factor detected was the presence of rheumatoid nodules (p: 0.018; 95: RP 1.19 to 7.09; 2.917). CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of secondary adverse reactions to treatment with Infliximab was 16.48%, and was associated with the presence of rheumatoid nodules
