Complicaciones gestacionales y perinatales asociados a la edad materna en los extremos de la vida fértil

Abstract

Introduction: The pregnancy at any age is a very important fact biopsychosocial, however in adolescence and at advanced ages leads to a series of situations that can undermine the health of the mother and the life of the son, and become a public health problem. Methodology: an observational study was conducted with a analytical cross-sectional sample of 729 maternal that came to the Hospital Vicente Poultry Moscoso of the city of Cuenca. We evaluated the obstetric complications during pregnancy, labor and the newborn. To determine the association used the odds ratio with its confidence interval is considered to be statistically significant values of p<0.05. Results: according to the age, 251 (34.3 %) patients had ages less than 20 years, 181 (24.8 %) patients had ages over 34 years and 297 (40.7 %) patients had between the ages of 20 and 34 years. It was found a statistically significant association between adolescent girls and the pregnancy-induced hypertension, preeclampsia, premature birth, anemia, compromise of the fetal well-being, track completion of delivery and complications of the labor. In women of advanced age there was an association with the gestational hypertension, premature rupture of membranes, respiratory distress and income to pediatric intensive care unit. Conclusions: The age at the ends of the life of a woman's fertile is a risk factor for obstetric complications, gestational and the newborn
