Seguimiento farmacoterapéutico de antibacterianos en el área de clínica del hospital Homero Castanier Crespo de la ciudad de Azogues

Abstract

Pharmacotherapy follow up is an essential activity in Pharmaceutical Care, which includes: detection, prevention and resolution of drug related problems (DRPs); with the final purpose to achieve results that improve the quality of life of patients. The general objective of this study was to do Pharmacotherapy follow up with antibacterial drugs in the Clinical Area of "Homero Castanier Crespo" Hospital located in Azogues, from May to June 2015. The specific objectives were: to describe the prevalent infectious diseases, to detect DRPs and suggest solutions to them. The study was a descriptive, prospective and longitudinal one; the study population was 104 patients. The principal infectious diseases were: Pneumonia, Urinary Tract Infection and Bronchopneumonia. The most antibacterial drugs prescribed were: Ampicillin-Sulbactam, Ceftriaxone, Ciprofloxacin and Clarithromycin. Among all patients, 27 developed DRPs (25.96%), with a total of 28 of them. The most prevalent ones were that have to do with effectiveness: DRPs 3 (53%) and DRPs 4 (29%), followed by the ones related with safety: DRPs 5 (11%) and DRPs 6 (4%) and finally the ones related with necessity: DRPs 1 (3%). The use of Ampicillicin-Sulbactam and Ceftriaxone were involved with the majority of DRPs. In conclusion 28,57% of patients using antibacterial drugs presented DRPs, for which 71.43% had a timely solution. It is recommended to promote Pharmacotherapy follow up related with antibacterial drugs in this area.
