Abstract

It was developed a research about the characteristics of the workplace and the academic profile of the Graduates of the career of Physical Therapy of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca, period 2010-2014. Methodological Design. Descriptive study, the data was conformed of 78 Graduates and Certificated of the career of Physical Therapy, who participated voluntarily through the signing of informed consent. The results are presented in statistical tables and graphs. Results. The 74% belonged to the female gender, the 41% work in private institutions. The 96.2% of the participants express satisfaction with their job, the dissatisfaction was reported in 3.2% due to the distance of their jobs. The 65.4% of the participant work 8 hours daily, the 74.4% receive a salary major than 500 dollars. The 96.2% of the participants express satisfaction with their job, for the 43.6% the received academic preparation have been useful in the workplace in 76-100%. The 92.3% don’t study a degree and they express the necessity of the creation of a fourth level in areas related to Physical Therapy. Recommendations. The career of Physical Therapy should develop periodic researches about the occupational profile of the graduates. It is recommended to program and develop studies of fourth level, to satisfy the necessities and expectations of the graduates
