Abstract: | Background
At the moment, there is no official account of the educational and occupational reality of the University of Cuenca´s Early Stimulation graduates. This study reports this data.
General Objective: To obtain relevant information about the educational and occupational reality of the 2010 – 2014 Early Stimulation graduates of the University of Cuenca.
Methodology: For this research, a descriptive study was conducted using a sample population made up of 91 graduates of the major during the 2010 – 2014 period. The necessary data was gathered through a self-administered survey first, and then tabulated on Excel 2010 and SPSS 22 to finally subject it to a descriptive analysis of frequencies and percentages.
Results: The research revealed these results: 94.5% of professionals in this area are females, while 5.5% are males; regarding location, 84.6% of them reside in Cuenca, but only 73.6% are originally from this city. Also, 68.1% affirm they chose their major by vocation, while 13.2% claim they did it looking for better work opprtunities. Other important findings were that only 6.6% of participants have acquired a post-graduate degree, 46.2% took less than a month to find their first job, 83.5% are working in areas related to their major, and 47.3% operate in the private sector. Actualmente no existe información alguna sobre la Realidad Formativa y Ocupacional del Licenciado en Estimulación Temprana de la Universidad de Cuenca. La presente investigación da a conocer estos datos.
Objetivo General: Obtener información relevante sobre la realidad formativa y ocupacional de los graduados del período 2010 – 2014 de la carrera de Estimulación Temprana de la Universidad de Cuenca.
Metodología: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, con una muestra conformada por 91 graduados de la carrera desde el período 2010 al 2014, obteniendo información en base a una encuesta autoadministrada, recolectando los datos pertinentes para la investigación. Los resultados fueron copilados en Excel 2010 y tabulados en el programa SPSS 22 para finalmente ser sometidos a un análisis descriptivo de frecuencias y porcentajes.
Resultados: Se pudo constatar que los profesionales son: sexo femenino (94,5%) y sexo masculino (5,5%), procedentes (73,6%) y residentes (84,6) de la ciudad de Cuenca. El 68,1% afirma que eligió la carrera por vocación y solo el 13,2% por mayores expectativas de trabajo. Del total de participantes, el 6,6% cuentan con título de cuarto nivel. Al 47,3% le tomó menos de 1 mes en conseguir su primer empleo. El 83,5% actualmente se encuentra laborando con relación a su profesión. El 47,3% se encuentra laborando en el sector privado.
