| Abstract: | The current investigation is a significant contribution to the development of the people from three vulnerable areas where barley crops are grown in the south highlands of Ecuador; Azogues, Tambo y Nabón. Advance lines of bio- fortified exposed barley grain and low phytates content were evaluated here, in order to select a participatory promising line of good agronomic performance and cost-effective. The vegetative material used were lines 3,14, 15, 16, 18, 25, 38, 41, 42, 54, 63, 68, 70 and as witness it was use the Atahualpa and Rita varieties, at a rate of 50 gr/3 m2 constituting an area of 6 m2 per experimental unit. For this it was implemented an experiment in a DBCA, with 15 treatments and 4 repetitions; the results were statistically evaluated according to Tukey’s at 5%.Statistical analysis determined that the advanced lines behaved differently in the three locations according to the variables: plant height, disease incidence, yield (kg/ha), field force, type of straw and grain type. Meanwhile the percentage variables of germination and bolting days showed no significance, seeds therefore behaved similarly. In laboratory tests (tetrazolium, germination and vigor) lines showed 90 % viability, 80 % germination and 93 % vigor, indicating that the quality of the seed is within acceptable and minimum values described by the FAO.
The line with best agronomy performance in the location of Chuquipata was the line 16, with an average yield of 2562.5 kg / ha, meanwhile in Nabón line 70 was the one with the best performance with an average yield of 2906.66 kg/ha, and finally for Tambo It was the line 3, which showed an average yield of 3142 kg / ha. Nonetheless the line that showed the best performance stability, tolerance to attack of diseases such as: yellow rust, leaf rust, scald and yellow dwarf virus; in the three locations it was line 54 with a yield of 2261.11 kg / ha.
In the participative evaluation with farmers in each locality, the greater acceptance lines were 70, 16 and 54 mainly because of its good agronomic performance and good grain conformation
In the economic analysis, the lines that shown the best ration cost/benefit were lines 70, 16 and 54 with: 2.66, 2.41 and 2.18 respectively. |
| Description: | La presente investigación constituye un aporte significativo al desarrollo de habitantes en tres áreas cebaderas vulnerables de la Sierra Sur Ecuatoriana; Azogues, Tambo y Nabón, aquí se evaluaron líneas avanzadas de Cebada bio-fortificada de grano descubierto y bajo contenido en fitatos, con el objeto de seleccionar participativamente una línea promisoria de buen comportamiento agronómico y económicamente rentable. Los materiales vegetativos empleados lo constituyeron las Líneas 3, 14, 15, 16, 18, 25, 38, 41, 42, 54, 63, 68, 70 y como testigo se utilizó las variedades Atahualpa y Rita, a razón de 50 gr/ 3 m2 constituyendo un área de 6 m2 por cada unidad experimental. Para esto se implementó un ensayo en un DBCA, con 15 tratamientos y 4 repeticiones; los resultados fueron estadísticamente valorados según la prueba de Tukey al 5%. El análisis estadístico determinó que las líneas avanzadas se comportaron de diferente manera en las tres localidades de acuerdo a las variables: altura de plantas, incidencia de enfermedades, rendimiento (kg/ha), vigor en campo, tipo de paja y tipo de grano. Mientras que las variables porcentaje de emergencia y días al espigamiento no mostraron significancia por tanto las semillas se comportaron de manera similar. En las pruebas de laboratorio (Tetrazolio, Germinación y Vigor) las líneas mostraron un 90% de viabilidad, 80% de germinación y 93% de vigor, lo que indica que la calidad de la semilla está dentro de los valores aceptables y mínimos descrita por la FAO. La línea con el mejor comportamiento agronómico en la localidad de Chuquipata fue la línea 16, con un rendimiento promedio de 2562.5 kg/ha, mientras que en la localidad de Nabón la Línea 70 fue la que mejor se comportó agronómicamente, con un promedio de 2906.66 kg/ha y finalmente para la localidad de Tambo, fue la línea 3, que presentó un rendimiento promedio de 3142 kg/ha. Sin embargo la línea que mostro la mejor estabilidad de rendimiento, tolerancia al ataque de enfermedades como son: roya amarilla, roya de la hoja, escaldadura y virus del enanismo amarillo en las tres localidades fue la línea 54 con un rendimiento de 2261,11 kg/ha.En las evaluaciones participativas con los agricultores de cada localidad, las líneas de mayor aceptación fueron 70, 16 y 54 principalmente por su buen comportamiento agronómico y buena conformación de grano.Al realizar el análisis económico, las líneas que presentaron el valor más alto en Relación Beneficio/Costo fueron las líneas 70, 16 y 54 con: 2.66, 2.41 y 2.18 respectivamente |
