| Abstract: | A comparative, retrospective study was performed in a total of 118 patients with thoracic trauma in the hospital IESS. [Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security] 46 patients and HVCM [Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital] 72 patients over a period of five years [1991-1995]. The ethereal predominant group is between 20-39 years with an average age of 32.4, corresponding to HVCM, while the IESS is located 40-50 years with an average age of 44.7. Being the most frequent male, no significant differences exist between the two institutions. Rural area correspond to the 52.4 percent level HVCM While 63 percent are in urban areas corresponding to IESS. Within the class we observed that the most affected are the poor and lower working, especially in the HVCM Detected as more frequent in the thoracic trauma in HVCM etiologic agent, the stab with 38.9 percent, followed by traffic accidents with 27.8 percent and the IESS, a predominance of traffic accidents was detected with a 39.1 percent, surpassing even the other causes the comparison group, it should be noted that a HVCM 88.9 percent, and 47.8 percent of patients IESS not have complete data on medical records |
| Description: | Se realizó un estudio comparativo, retrospectivo en un total de 118 pacientes con trauma toracico, en el hospital de IESS. [Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social] 46 pacientes y el H.V.C.M. [Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso] 72 pacientes, en un período de 5 años [1991-1995]. El grupo etéreo predominante, está entre los 20-39 años con un promedio de edad de 32.4, correspondiente al H.V.C.M., mientras que en el IESS se encuentra ubicado a los 40-50 años con un promedio de edad de 44.7. Siendo el sexo masculino el más frecuente, sin existir una diferencia significativa entre ambas instituciones. Corresponden al área rural el 52.4 por ciento a nivel de H.V.C.M. Mientras que el 63 por ciento son del área urbana correspondiente al IESS. Dentro de la clase social observamos que la más afectada es la pobre y trabajadora baja, especialmente en el H.V.C.M. Detectándose como agente etiológico más frecuente en el traumatismo torácico en el H.V.C.M., el arma blanca con un 38.9 por ciento, seguido de accidentes de tránsito con 27.8 por ciento y en el IESS, se detectó un predominio de los accidentes de tránsito con un 39.1 por ciento, superando incluso a las otras causas del grupo comparativo, hay que hacer notar que un 88.9 por ciento del H.V.C.M., y un 47.8 por ciento de pacientes del IESS, no tienen los datos completos en las historias clínicas |
