Abstract
A series of misunderstandings and erroneous assumptions continue to impair the productivity of the
viewing of a film. Watching a film, especially if it is the result of an adapted script, it is often accompanied
by negative judgments by readers and viewers who are accustomed to the sterile habit of comparison.
Against this comparative tendency, arises the need to dispose the preconception or unprejudiced
viewing of films, which can be possible to attain through the discrediting of sterile comparisons by setting
radical demarcations, even in the bosom of cinematographic adaptation, deriving out of two forms
of representation or means of expression, notwithstanding they share components, they are by nature,
verbally and visually different. This is not about seeking the novel in a film neither the film in a novel.
Resumen
Una serie de malentendidos y presupuestos erróneos siguen perjudicando la productividad de un visionado.
Mirar una película, y más si es fruto de un guión adaptado, suele ir acompañado de juicios
negativos por parte de lectores y espectadores dados al estéril hábito de comparar. Frente a este afán
comparatista se plantea la necesidad de desprejuiciar el visionado, lo cual es posible alcanzar mediante
el descrédito de comparatismos estériles, estableciendo para ello deslindes radicales, aún en el seno
mismo de la adaptación cinematográfica, de dos formas de representación o medios de expresión que
sin bien comparten componentes, son por su naturaleza verbal y visual esencialmente distintos. Se trata
de no buscar la novela en la película ni la película en la novela.
