Determinación del impacto socioeconómico de la asociatividad en el sector artesanal de Chordeleg para el 2010

Abstract

This research paper analyzes the socioeconomic impact of the associativity of artisans in Canton Chordeleg, Azuay Province. The study was done by lifting the information directly from the Canton, to discover the networks of associativity and their function between the various artisanal activities that take place in the Canton. Thus, determine the bonds created between craftsmen and socioeconomic benefits that can be obtained based on this relationship. The information used for this investigation was, in part, collected through surveys done directly to the artisans. The other part of the information was gathered from the statistical data provided by the Census of Population and Housing (2010), the National Survey of Employment, Unemployment and Underemployment and the National Census Economy (2010). While the term associativity has broad definitions, this research is based primarily on associations of both goldsmiths and toquillera artisans (Panama hat artisans) that exist within the Canton and the benefits they obtain from being part of these organizations. The quantification of these benefits is done based on gain or profit earned from the sales by the relation of variables. Such as, the membership or lack of to an associativity, number of employees, expenditure on machinery and tools, whether or not it has a certified artisan rating, the initial investment, costs on infrastructure, and capacitation costs. The main result obtained in this research is positive in regards to the associativity and its impact on the benefit for the artisans. Belonging to an association improves the image of artisans and gives them a better organization and representation in local and national market, creating a distinctive identity among the artisans.
