| dc.description | El presente trabajo de investigación trata sobre el proceso de expansión de la parroquia rural de San Joaquín en relación directa con la ciudad de Cuenca y su crecimiento desde de la década de 1990 hasta el 2012. Esta investigación diagnostica y describe geográfica, demográfica y económicamente el sector anteriormente mencionado a través de la Geografía Urbana. El objetivo es aplicar este enfoque al área de estudio y plantear una interrogante en cuanto al futuro de esta zona, la que ya está inmersa en nuevos proyectos que propiciarán, aún más, su desarrollo urbano. Por esta razón se llegó a la conclusión de que la teoría de los modelos de organización espacial es inaplicable a la realidad de San Joaquín. La parroquia continuará con su proceso de expansión constantemente gracias a su cercanía a Cuenca. De la misma manera, la introducción de nuevas actividades económicas, que aún no sustituyen a la hortícola, aumentará debido al crecimiento de la ocupación habitacional. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | This research deals with the expansion of San Joaquin directly related to the city of Cuenca and its growth from the 1990s to the present. The investigation involves a geographic, demographic and economic description as a diagnostic which covers the conceptual part of Urban Geography and apply its themes to the studied area. Also, it poses a question about the future of this area which is already immersed in new projects that will bring on further urban development. Therefore it was concluded that the theory of models of spatial organization are inapplicable to the reality of San Joaquin and its expansion will continue in steady accretion because of its proximity to Cuenca. Moreover the introduction of new economic activities has not replaced the traditional activity, horticulture, although it seems that will happen very soon. Horticulture has been decreasing due to the fact that residential occupation has increased. | es_ES |
