La declaratoria del sombrero de paja toquilla como Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad, consecuencias para el desarrollo turístico del cantón Sígsig

Abstract

This thesis is made in order to determinate some consequences for tourism development in Sigsig after getting the straw hat as an Intangible Cultural Heritage title. To achieve this aim, we can found the first chapter surrounded by general information about Sigsig and its recognition as Cultural Heritage of the Nation, also some natural and cultural attractions, and a complete analysis of a lot of craftwork specially our straw hat. As second chapter a comprehensive analysis of the straw hat is given, including its declaration as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO; the straw hat in Sígsig as a national international tourism image, its intermediation, and consequences on tourism in Sígsig, exportations, economy and competition. In the third chapter a qualitatively and quantitatively analysis of the profile of tourists visiting Sigsig will be done; to achieve this objective, I will do interviews with experts in the field, surveys with specific questions related to the topic of this thesis. Finally by results and conclusions of the tools used will determine whether the declaration of hat as Intangible Cultural Heritage has positively contributed to tourism development in Sigsig.
