| Abstract: | OBJECTIVE: To assess the impact of a dietary intervention in the nutritional status of the "Aida León de Rodriguez Lara" and "San Sebastian" hospitals staff in Azuay province 2014.
METHODS AND MATERIALS: A descriptive study was performed using a Intervention – Action component.
The study group was integrated by the staff working at Aida León de Rodriguez Lara from Girón and San Sebastián from Sigsig Hospitals, prior to signing the informed consent.
A previously validated Food Frequency Questionnaire was applied and used as an instrument at the beginning and at the end of the research to measure the impact,. Also, anthropometric measurements were taken and biochemical blood levels were determinate.
The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS Statistics 20 and Microsoft Excel Software.
RESULTS: The intervention with a Normal Diet in 47% of the staff allowed them to maintain their nutritional status. The intervention with a Hypo caloric achieved a mean reduction of 1.5 kg in 37% of the staff. Despite the weight loss, all of them still remain overweight and obese.
Finally the intervention with the Dyslipidemia Diet achieved the 20% of the staff reduce their cholesterol and triglycerides levels, however only two of them normalized their levels. |
| Description: | OBJETIVO: Evaluar el impacto de la intervención dietética en el estado nutricional del personal de los hospitales “Aida León de Rodríguez Lara” y “San Sebastián” de la provincia del Azuay 2014
MÉTODOS Y MATERIALES: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo con un componente de Intervención – Acción.
El universo de estudio estuvo integrado por el personal que labora en los Hospitales “Aida León de Rodríguez Lara” del cantón Girón y “San Sebastián” del cantón Sigsig, previo a la firma del consentimiento informado.
Se utilizó como instrumento una encuesta previamente validada por los autores y la frecuencia de consumo que se aplicó al inicio de la investigación y al finalizar la misma para medir el impacto. Además se realizó la toma de medidas antropométricas y la determinación de niveles bioquímicos en sangre al inicio y al final del estudio.
Los datos obtenidos fueron analizados mediante el programa informático SPSS Statistics 20 y Microsoft Excel.
RESULTADOS: La intervención que se realizó con Dieta Normal permitió que el 47% del personal mantenga su estado nutricional normal.
La intervención con Dieta Hipocalórica logró una reducción promedio de 1,5 kilogramos en 37% del personal. A pesar del descenso, el estado nutricional de sobrepeso y obesidad se mantiene.
Finalmente la intervención con Dieta para Dislipidemias logró que el 20% del personal reduzca sus niveles de colesterol y triglicéridos en sangre, sin embargo únicamente 2 personas alcanzaron los niveles óptimos. |
