| Abstract: | The aim of this survey was the attitudes and behavior in dental students of the School of Dentistry at the University of Cuenca, and the use of Hiroshima dental behavior dental inventory (HU-DBI). This survey included students from first to fifth year and candidates for postgraduate programs and postgraduate students.
A survey was conducted to freshmen to fifth year and included leveling students and graduate students, the total number of respondents was 460 students which included students from first to fifth, leveling and graduate students, a response rate found of 87.47%, where 256 (66.7%) were women, 128 (33.33%) were men, most urban origin 96.3%, the index number HU-DBI was for preclinical students with DS 8.89 and 1,542 students with clinical experience with DS 1.485 9.49.
In this study we found no difference in rates between men and women, and the fact this rate increases with education of theoretical and increases further contact with patients, which is maintained, and that graduate students have lower rates of HU-DBI than students of 4th and 5th year, a finding that requires further study. |
| Description: | El objetivo de este estudio de encuesta fue analizar las actitudes y conductas de los estudiantes de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca, utilizando el test de actitudes y conductas de la Universidad de Hiroshima (HU-DBI) este test constituye un test confiable y validado internacionalmente que incluye 20 preguntas dicotómicas y que valora en una escala máxima de 12 las actitudes y conductas de salud oral. Se realizó una encuesta a estudiantes de primer año a quinto. Se incluyó a estudiantes de nivelación y estudiantes de postgrado; el total de estudiantes encuestados fue 460, se encontró una tasa de respuesta de 87.47%, de los cuales fueron 256(66,7%) mujeres, 128(33,33%) de hombres, la mayoría de procedencia urbano 96,3%, el número de índice HU-DBI fue para los estudiantes preclínicos de 8,89 con DS 1,542 y los estudiantes con experiencia clínica de 9,49 con DS 1,485.
Se encontró que no hay diferencias del índice entre hombres y mujeres, y que este índice aumenta con la educación de las materias teóricas y se incrementa más al entrar los estudiantes en contacto con pacientes, en los que se mantiene, el valor del índice y los estudiantes de postgrado tienen un menor índice de HU-DBI que los estudiantes de 4to y 5to año, hallazgo que requiere un estudio posterior. |
