| Abstract: | Clinical laboratory values concerning lipid profile in 312 pupils from the urban parishes of the city of Cuenca were investigated. It was a descriptive study with a random sample.
As objectives of the investigation the following were presented:
Determine the values of total cholesterol, triglyceride levels, cholesterol HDL levels, cholesterol LDL and cholesterol VLDL in the population studied.
Relate the results obtained to age, sex, e IMC.
The following results were obtained: 5% of pupils present low weight, 24% average weight, 23% overweight and 48% obesity; 18 to 19% of pupils have high levels of total cholesterol. 21 to 33% present high triglyceride levels 9 to 14% present diminished values of cholesterol HDL. 9% show high values of cholesterol LDT and 4 to 12% high levels of VLDL.
15% of pupils with normal weight, 10% of pupils with overweight and 26% of pupils with obesity present high values of cholesterol total. 4% of children with normal weight, 20% of children with overweight and 43% of children with obesity present high values of triglyceride levels. |
| Description: | Se investigaron los valores de laboratorio clínico correspondientes al perfil lipídico en 312 escolares de las parroquias urbanas de la Ciudad de Cuenca. Fue un estudio descriptivo con muestra aleatoria.
Como objetivos de la investigación se plantearon los siguientes:
Determinar los valores de colesterol total, triglicéridos, colesterol-HDL, colesterol- LDL y colesterol-VLDL en la población estudiada.
Relacionar los resultados obtenidos con edad, sexo, e IMC.
Se obtuvo los siguientes resultados: el 5% de escolares presentan bajo peso, 24% normo peso, 23% sobrepeso y 48% obesidad; el 18-19% de niños tienen niveles elevados de colesterol total; el 21-33% presentan valores elevados de triglicéridos; el 9-14% presentan valores disminuidos de HDL-colesterol; el 9% valores elevados de LDL-colesterol y del 4-12% valores elevados de VLDL.
El 15% en niños con normopeso, el 10% en niños con sobrepeso y el 26% en niños con obesidad presentan valores elevados de colesterol total.
El 4% en niños con normopeso, el 20% en niños con sobrepeso y el 43% en niños con obesidad presentan valores elevados de triglicéridos. |
