Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: The issue of influence of modern practices, beliefs and customs of the community belonging to the community Quilloac Cañar is important because the inclusion of modern cultures, new technologies and lifestyles; in most cases affects the way of life of community residents. Objective: To determine the influence of modern practices, beliefs and customs of the Quilloac community. Materials and Methods: This is a qualitative study based on a description of the information about the influence of modern practices, beliefs and customs of the community Quilloac; it was work 3 selected focus groups, considering gender and age. the information search was conducted through interviews with the observation depth and found every aspect of the application of previously developed forms. Results: In the community of Quilloac there is a good communication to resolve contradictions and get good results, which allows for greater interaction among people of different cultures. Modernity brings feelings such as fear and uncertainty affecting teens who have problems such as: alcoholism, consumerism, destruction of home and family. The practice of ancestral knowledge helps to preserve indigenous culture, promote natural medicine, the continuous use clothing and own and their own language. Conclusion: beliefs and customs practices with members of the community and as the principal participants in this research in which is present the influence of modernity in teenager people, mature adults and focusing on those who continue to practice the teachings of their ancestors and set an example for children to maintain cultural identity.
