Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de violencia intrafamiliar en mujeres que acuden al Centro de Apoyo “Las Marías”. Gualaceo – 2013

Abstract

Background: Ecuador 6 out of 10 women are victims of domestic violence, but they know the characteristics in women attending Support Center "Las Marias". Objectives: To identify attitudes, knowledge and practices of domestic violence in women attending the support center "Las Marías" Gualaceo - 2013. Methodological Design: This was a qualitative, narrative - descriptive exploratory study scop, held at the Support Center for Women and Families, "Las Marias". The universe was formed 28 female participants. Observation and semi-structured interview was used. Data were analyzed with the programs, Excel and ATLAS ti. Results: Of the participants, married women are the most affected, with 50%, 32.14% are between 31-40 years, 57.14% had incomplete instruction, 64.29%, is devoted to housework, 32.14% comes from Gualaceo, 42.86% reside in Gualaceo, the 96.43% is Catholic and 57.14%, is regular socioeconomic level Women who come to the center "Las Marías", think that domestic violence is physical and psychological aggression and suffering are mentioned by miscommunication. The attitude taken, is feeling sad, desperate and afraid but keep believing that the relationship partner change, some leave home and others decide to report them. Conclusion: Domestic violence in our country is similar to that of other countries, the difference is in the academic level of our women, lack of means to defend themselves in a changing world and dependence on others for living increases.
