Abstract
The objective of this work was to define the compaction process to be used in the construction of PACALORI’s dams Project, through the investigation of the physical and mechanical properties of a possible material to be used in the same embankment.
A proper compaction is intended to avoid the most common serious or catastrophic failures that could occur due to a bad process in it, or by the lack of knowledge of soil properties and materials that make it up.
The parameters determined for analysis in the compaction of these soils were optimum moisture and compaction energy suitable for this process. Furthermore, the characterization of the soil was made according to their physical properties and the mechanical properties of the compacted material in terms of flexibility, strength, and permeability.
For this, necessary tests on the ground that is intended to be the constituent material of the body of the dams were performed. In addition, with the knowledge of the mechanical behavior of soil, and proceeded to establish the criteria for compaction and general recommendations that requires the construction of such structures.
Resumen
El objetivo de este trabajo fue definir el procedimiento de compactación que se debe utilizar en la construcción de las presas del Proyecto PACALORI, a través de la investigación de las propiedades físicas y mecánicas de un posible préstamo que será utilizado en terraplén de las mismas.
Una adecuada compactación tiene la finalidad de evitar las fallas graves o catastróficas más frecuentes que podrían ocurrir debido a un mal proceso en el mismo, o por el desconocimiento de las propiedades del suelo y materiales que lo conforman.
Los parámetros determinados para el análisis, en la compactación de este tipo de suelos, fueron la humedad óptima y energía de compactación adecuada para este proceso. Además, se realizó la caracterización del suelo según sus propiedades físicas y las propiedades mecánicas del material compactado en cuanto a flexibilidad, resistencia y permeabilidad.
Para esto, se realizaron los ensayos necesarios sobre el suelo que se pretende sea el material constituyente del cuerpo de las presas. Además que, con el conocimiento acerca del comportamiento mecánico del suelo, se precedió a establecer los criterios de compactación y recomendaciones generales que demande la construcción de este tipo de estructuras.
