Description:
This thesis is about the famous American poet, Emily Dickinson, her reclusiveness, the works during her lifetime and published after her death, and the main events that happened in the U.S.A. in the 19th century. When Emily died, her younger sister, Lavinia, discovered a cherry-wood cabinet containing some 1,147 poems in hand-written form which were published some years later. Actually, her poetic works have become popular around the world after her death because of her innovative, new poetic form called, Nonliterary. In other words, she didn't use traditional punctuation in her works which were often about death, faith, immortality, nature, domesticity, and life. When editors published Emily's poems, they tried to improve them by adding appropriate punctuation. Also, they classified them into categories: Friendship, Nature, Love, and Death. Emily's poetry seems to be difficult to understand at the beginning; therefore, her poems require concentration on the part of the reader since her meaning isn't immediately clear when she explains things in her own way. However, she is considered nowadays as one of the best poets in American literary history along with Walt Whitman. This entire thesis deserves to be read, studied, and analyzed because the public should know more about this interesting kind of poetry
