Objetivo: identificar la prevalencia y factores asociados al inicio de vida sexual en los adolescentes de la parroquia Hermano Miguel. Metodología: estudio transversal; en 170 adolescentes, en 2 instituciones educativas de la parroquia Hermano Miguel, se reportó la prevalencia y factores asociados como desestructuración familiar, disfuncionalidad familiar y condición socioeconómica baja. Se presentó frecuencias, porcentajes, medias, desvío estándar, OR, intervalo de confianza 95%, valor p; para el análisis se usó el programa SPSS versión 23. Resultados: el 60,6% perteneció al grupo de 14 a 16 años, el 57,1% fueron mujeres. El 45,9% ya inició su vida sexual; el 10,4% ha presentado una ITS. El 23,4% ha presentado embarazo. El 84,4% ha tenido de una a tres parejas. El 26% no utilizó ningún método anticonceptivo; el 60,6% pertenecen a una familia estructurada; el 67,1% a una condición socioeconómica baja; y el 77,6% poseen una familia funcional. Existió riesgo en la familia desestructurada y disfuncional de inicio de vida sexual, sin embargo, no fue significativo. Conclusiones: los adolescentes iniciaron su vida sexual en un alto porcentaje y en una temprana edad, existió riesgo en las familias desestructuradas y disfuncionales mas no en la condición socioeconómica.Introduction: The beginning of sexual life is a transcendental event; The response is more frequent in adolescents, the risk of unwanted pregnancies and STIs (sexually transmitted infections).
