Los informes de abuso en estudiantes de medicina indican que es un problema generalizado que no ha disminuido con el tiempo. Objetivo: Determinar las características de violencia en los estudiantes de la carrera de Medicina de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2024. Métodos: Investigación de tipo descriptivo, que se realizó con una muestra probabilística de estudiantes de Medicina registrados en el primer ciclo al décimo ciclo de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2024, en el cual se aplicó una encuesta cuyas principales variables descriptivas a estudiar fueron edad, sexo, ciclo de estudio, procedencia, agresor médico docente, agresor médico residente, agresor estudiante, tipos de maltrato. Los datos se llevaron a cabo en tablas simples y compuestas y los resultados se expresan en porcentajes. Resultados: El 50.6% tenían o eran menores de 20 años, el 67.9% eran mujeres, el 82.7% eran de la Región Sierra; el 25.1% de estudiantes de 21 a 25 años sufrieron maltrato, así como el 33.2% de las mujeres. Conclusiones: El tipo de violencia mas común fue el psicológico seguido del académico, se presenta un importante porcentaje de violencia física y sexual.Background: Violence is recognized worldwide as a social and health problem, which manifests itself in different ways and in various areas.
