En este trabajo se aborda la transmisión del conocimiento sobre los oficios del pasado, que en la actualidad son el sustento económico en la parroquia Güel y la cabecera cantonal de Sígsig. Para este cometido, se trabajó bajo un enfoque cualitativo de corte explicativo, se apoyó en técnicas como la observación, el diario de campo y entrevistas semiestructuradas. Se destaca que el tejido de sombreros de paja toquilla es el oficio más transmitido de generación en generación, los cuales definen la identidad de Güel como de Sígsig.The article raíces the importance of the transmission of knowledge reading the trades of the past, taking into account that Ecuador has a series of regulations to protect cultural heritage as part of public policies in the cultural field. In view of the ecuadorian people, this paper addresses the transmission of knowledge about the trades of the past that are currently the economic livelihood in the Güel parish and the cantonal head og Sígsig. In this way, techniques such as observation, the field diary and semi-structured interviews carried out with participants were used. It stands out that the weaving of toquilla straw hats is the most flowery, recognizing the process of elaboration and commercialization of the same.
