Los molinos en San Felipe de Oña han sido un pilar fundamental en el sustento de la población desde la época prehispánica, su mecanismo fue adaptándose a las necesidades y recursos naturales que posee el cantón. Algunos de ellos han desaparecido y otros aún permanecen de pie. El Molino del Santísimo (primer molino del cantón) no ha sido la excepción del abandono y olvido por parte de sus habitantes y autoridades, por ello como objetivo general de este estudio se centró en la investigación participativa, histórica y patrimonial del inmueble como directrices para la valoración y propuesta de reactivación del molino, con lo que se pretende devolver la vitalidad al barrio San Francisco que, a mediados del siglo XX, entró en un proceso de decadenciaThe vernacular architecture directed to the traditional mills is the point of convergence of culture and history both local and universal, however, despite its importance, in the country there is little or no knowledge of its existence, which has caused the abandonment of many of these goods.
