Periodo julio-diciembre 2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-09-07) Chimbo Mejía, Pamela Alexandra; Zúñiga Orellana, Celia Jessenia; Lucio Bravo, Miriam AlexandraBACKGROUND: Psychomotor development is of great importance, because it allows the correct deployment of skills in the areas of cognition, motor skills, language, social and self-help, acquired in children during early childhood. Regarding the delay in psychomotor, it considered a gap in the acquisition of skills, departing significantly from what is expected for the age, either in a single area or at a global level. In the present study, the Batelle Development Inventory was applied, which evaluates abilities and skills of children from 0 to 8 years of age, allowing to obtaining the development age, strengths and weaknesses of the different areas. OBJECTIVE: To determine the psychomotor development of boys and girls from 1 to 3 years of age in the “Centro Infantil del Buen Vivir Emblemático Chordeleg”. METHODOLOGY: The present study was prospective descriptive quantitative. The study population was all the boys and girls who regularly attend the “Centro Infantil del Buen Vivir Emblemático Chordeleg”, applying the “Battelle Development Inventory”. To carry out the analysis and tabulation of data, the SPSS 22 free version, Microsoft Excel 2013 and Microsoft Word 2013 programs were used; for the descriptive statistical analysis, frequencies and percentages; simple and double entry tables were used according to variables. RESULTS: The analyzed population was 81 boys and girls, obtaining the following data as a result, the area with weak points is the motor area with 45.7%, on the other hand, the area with strong points is the adaptive area with 29.6% according to the Battelle Development Inventory. The results obtained were used to determine the level of development of the children; the information was used exclusively for research.
