Item Principales causas de cesárea en pacientes atendidas en el Hospital José Félix Valdiviezo, Santa Isabel 2018.(2019-06-25) Seminario Tenesaca, Angela Fernanda; Zumba Minchala, Jenny Guadalupe; Altamirano Cárdenas, Ruth XimenaBackground: according to the data collected by national and international organizations, Cesarean delivery is one of the obstetric surgeries that is performed in a greater percentage to make possible the reduction of maternal, neonatal, and perinatal morbidity and mortality, especially in conditions in which vaginal delivery is difficult or due to emergency situations. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) cesarean deliveries have been increasing in the last five decades. (one) Objective: to determine the main causes of cesarean section in patients treated at the Hospital "José Félix Valdiviezo", Cantón Santa Isabel, 2018. Methodology: the type of research is descriptive and retrospective, a group of mothers who underwent caesarean section in this institution was analyzed during a period April - December, 2018, with a sample of 120 patients. The SPSS 21 Software was used to tabulate and make the necessary tables to reveal the results obtained. Results: the age group prevalent in this study was between 20 - 29 years of age with 49.2%. Most have a civil status Union de facto and reside in the rural area. 77.5% of participants perform housework. 81.6% of the participants underwent a scheduled cesarean section which was performed for maternal causes; in which the cephalopelvic disproportion (37.5%) and previous uterine scar (21.7%) stand out, among the fetal causes stands out the presentation dystocia (12.5%). Conclusions: the main cause of cesarean section in patients treated at the José Félix Valdiviezo Hospital was cephalopelvic disproportion with 37.5%.
