    Valoración del estado nutricional de niños/as menores de 3 años del Centro Infantil del Buen Vivir (CIBV) del cantón Gualaceo, 2014

    Background: The nutritional status in normal conditions is the result of balance between what is consumed and what is required, which is determined by the quality and quantity of dietary nutrients and their full utilization in the body. Objective: Determine the nutritional status in children / as children under 3 years Children's Center of Good Living (CIBV) Gualaceo Canton. Methodology: The research was quantitative and descriptive study worked with a finite universe of 81 children .It took measurements of height and weight and a semistructured survey was conducted. Those values were compared with those recommended by the WHO and the degree of malnutrition was evaluated according to Gomez classification charts. Data were processed in Microsoft Word, Excel and SPSS. Results: 81 children, of 30.9% of children / as presents normal nutrition were assessed. 54.3% had grade I malnutrition, while 13.6% of children one Grade II malnutrition was found. Only one child is severely malnourished (Grade III). Moreover, it was found as a result that 13.6% of children / as, have normal size, while 37% are at risk of stunting and 49.4% already has a considerable stunting. Conclusions: Alterations Nutritional Status in its various forms, are common causes are usually due to poor financial resources, inadequate eating habits that compromise in one way or another nutritional status
