    Prevalencia y factores de riesgo del consumo de drogas legales e ilegales en los estudiantes de bachillerato, sección vespertina de la Unidad Educativa Herlinda Toral. Cuenca, 2022-2023

    Background: the use of legal and illegal drugs represents a major problem worldwide, usually occurring in adolescence due to different predisposing risk factors and vulnerability. The risk of legal and illegal drug use directly affects the central nervous system, thus altering important functions. In addition, it can cause health problems related to serious injuries and accidents. Objective: to determine the prevalence and risk factors of legal and illegal drug use in high school students, afternoon section of the "Herlinda Toral" Educational Unit. Cuenca, 2022- 2023. Method: quantitative study of cross-sectional analytical type, with a sample of 150 high school students, direct observation was used to collect information through the application of the Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs Consumption Detection Test v3.1, form of sociodemographic characteristics and risk factors for consumption of legal and illegal drugs. The results were analyzed through absolute frequency statistics, percentages and p-value. Results obtained: the highest percentage of consumption of legal drugs: alcohol 73.3% and tobacco 35.3%, in reference to illegal drugs: cannabis 9.3%, cocaine 6.0%, inhalants 9.3% and sedatives 15.3%. The risk factors associated with the use of legal drugs are: aggressive behavior, domestic violence and availability for consumption. The risk factors associated with illegal drug use are: low self-esteem, presence of domestic violence, family history of substance use in the second degree of consanguinity, and availability for consumption.
