    Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en la eliminación de los desechos hospitalarios por parte del personal profesional de enfermería del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca, 2015

    General Objective: Assess knowledge, attitudes and practices of the disposal of hospital waste by the Professional Nursing Staff Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. Methodology: It has been a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research, allowing us make a statistical analysis and describe knowledge, attitudes and practices of Professional Nursing have about of the hospital waste disposal. The universe was 140 nurses that work in different areas of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. The instrument used was a form of questions; it was analyzed through Microsoft Excel 2010 program. Results: We assessed knowledge, attitudes and practices through polls reflected in tables and graphs, which determine the Professional Nursing Staff have general knowledges relative to internal management of the hospital waste disposal, a 98% known adverse effects and a 100% the health risk causing improper operation, also they have positive practices about the separating waste at the time of disposal with percentages of 100% for sharps, the 98% infectious and pathologic 84%. Nevertheless, the majority of Professional Nursing Staff do not handle the new classification of Hospital Waste Disposal, because the Public Ministry of Health implemented a new regulation at 2014 and they benefited only 23% of Staff because they say have been trained less than a year ago. Strength is the collaborator attitude with other members of health team which the Professional Nursing Staff correct and teach about the Waste management evidenced by a percentage of a 98%. About the practice it demonstrates that is performed correctly the disposal of non-hazardous waste (common and recyclable) in a percentages of 85% and a 90% of hazardous waste (biological, pathological, pharmaceutical) and with infectious waste that they have problems at the moment to remove are the swabs and tongue depressors represented by 70%, it is due to because at the time to remove acquire sharps properties, another difficulties is to remove biodegradables waste like a food with a 68% of mistakes. Conclusions: The 80% of Professional Nursing Staff have positives knowledges about how to remove the hospital waste, also they possess an excellent attitude about the drove it. Any way the practice is affected in minimum quantity at the moment to remove the waste of some materials because they do not have update of knowledge
