Bitácora sobre el proceso de montaje de la obra Three Moves for Marimba de Paul Lansky
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-10) Bernal Cordero, Tomás; Villacis Barrazueta, Marcelo Francisco
This thesis titled “The process of staging Paul Lansky’s Three Moves for Marimba Journal" explores the use of a journal (study diary) as a tool for observation and reflection during the staging of a marimba piece. It meticulously examines the implications of the staging categorized into technical and abstract processes, encompassing the evolution in interpretation, cycles of trial and error, analysis of practice sessions documented through audiovisual material, and the evolution of study strategies Additionally, the study provides an overview of the concept and utilization of the journal in other research fields. It traces the evolution of the marimba as a solo instrument and its treatment in the North American context. The thesis delves into Paul Lansky's "Three Moves for Marimba," exploring the composer's life and his connection with the marimba, and conducting a formal analysis of its three movements with particular emphasis on the third movement, which serves as the focal point of the journal
