    Evaluación geriátrica integral del adulto mayor institucionalizado en la Casa Hogar Rosa Elvira de León, Azogues 2021

    Background: Comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGE) is defined as a biopsychosocial assessment tool, which allows of identifying the multidimensional care needs of institutionalized older adults. Objective: To determine the health status of the institutionalized elderly population in the “Casa Hogar Rosa Elvira de León” in Azogues city through comprehensive geriatric evaluation. Method and Materials: Quantitative, cross-sectional investigation was carry out; applied to 50 older adults from the “Casa Hogar Rosa Elvira de León”. The instruments used were: Gijón Social Assessment Scale, Barthel Index, Nutritional Assessment Scale, Modified Tinetti Scale, Modified Cognitive Assessment. The tabulation and determination of the results was carry out with the SPSS 24 program, and these are presented in simple tables, with frequencies and percentages. Results: Older adults from the “Casa Hogar Rosa Elvira de León” with an average age of 79.43 years, minimum age of 60 years, maximum age of 98 years, mode of 74 years, (SD of 10,573); a proportion of 3 women for every man, according to the EGI present a high risk of falls, some level of deterioration of cognitive status, risk of malnutrition and poor nutritional status. Conclusion: The state of health in the older adult institutionalized in the “Casa Hogar Rosa Elvira de León” is characterized by alterations in gait and balance, with different degrees of mental alterations, risk of malnutrition and poor nutritional status, which manifests a deterioration in the quality of life of this population.
