Item Resultados de la tomografía de coherencia óptica en pacientes con sospecha clínica de glaucoma. Hospital Santa Inés, Cuenca 2014-2015(2016-05) Carrión Crespo, Johanna Carolina; Vallejo Rau, Ana Melissa; Díaz Carrasco, Juan José; Roldán Fernández, Juan JoséBackground: Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness worldwide, within the diagnostic process the usefulness of optical coherence tomography (OCT) has been shown in other populations. In the city of Cuenca this test can be performed in the Santa Inés Hospital but not available epidemiological studies are among our population, which led to the realization of this study. Objective: Characterize the results of Optical Coherence Tomography in patients with clinical suspicion of glaucoma. In Santa Ines Hospital, Cuenca 2014-2015. Methodology: A retrospective descriptive study was performed, 146 records of patients with clinical suspicion of glaucoma by increased pressure or suspicious excavation who underwent OCT were studied. OCT registration data such as age and sex was collected, additional to this, indicators such as Density nerve fiber layer outside the optical disc (RNTF),optical disc area (Rim Area) and average C / D. The combined evaluation was identified by using a color map, its analysis was carried out by the use of SPSS using descriptive statistics. Results: The average age was at 63.59 years of age (± 16.2 years), the female group being most frequent with 50.7%; out of all the indicators analyzed, the most frequent which determined glaucoma was RNFL which was detected in 23 cases. After the combined analysis of the indicators; was determined that the frequency of cases on the right side was 11.6% and 12.3% on the left side. The frequency of cases was higher in the group of patients over 69 years old and in males. Conclusions: the frequency of glaucoma in patients with clinical suspicion was higher in the left eye and population of elders
