Item Conocimiento y hábitos sobre la higiene del sueño en estudiantes de la Carrera de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca, período 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-06-29) Tigre Guamantari, Erika Aracely; Yaruquí Pucha, Arianna Valeria; Arévalo Peláez, Carlos EduardoIntroduction: Sleep is a biological process of special importance for human beings, because it allows to carry out daily activities adequately when it is sufficient and of good quality. Objective: To determine the knowledge and habits about sleep hygiene in nursing students at the University of Cuenca, period 2022. Methodology: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 132 nursing students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca. The variables of interest in the study were: age, sex, academic cycle, additional work activities, ethnicity, sleep hygiene, sleep quality. Results: From a total of 132 students, the most frequent age was 18-19 years 33.3%, women 78.8%, rural origin 61.4%, mestizos 97.7%, single 97.0% and 14.4% said they had an additional job. The evaluation of sleep quality with the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Questionnaire showed that 15.9% do not have sleep problems, 46.2% deserve medical attention and 37.9% deserve medical attention and treatment. Sleep hygiene evaluated with the Mastiff questionnaire showed that 89.4% have good hygiene. Conclusions: the frequency of poor sleep quality that require medical attention and treatment is high in nursing students, with very little sleep time, going to bed very late and getting up early.
