    Estudio de la versión digital de diario El Tiempo: análisis y propuesta de innovación

    This thesis entitled “Study of the digital version of El Tiempo: analysis and proposal of innovation” had the goal of analyze El Tiempo website to check if it fills the expectations and needs of users, takes advantage of the possibilities of the digital world, and finally submit a proposal for its improvement. The topics of the First Chapter include general concepts digital communication and digital journalism, and thebest digital media worldwide. Chapter II briefly describes the history of journalism in Ecuador, the websites of major newspapers in the country, and the new multimedia storytelling. Chapter III analyzes the characteristics of ElTiempo.com.ec, such as design, content, information architecture, usability, web accessibility, user’s interaction, social networks, multimedia resources and then it is compared to other digital media such as El Comercio and El Mercurio. In Chapter IV the results of the survey are presented. Finally, the fifth chapter is the proposed innovation for the website and its web team, along with a manual on writing for the web and use of social networks.
