This work consisted in the analysis of the water quality used by the inhabitants from Leg Abuga and Lower East of Bayas, parish of the Azogues, Cañar Province. This research was descriptive, cross-sectional and non-experimental. Samples of water were collected in homes from the study area, according to a sample plan. Statistical analysis were based on stratified random probabilistic sampling, the evaluated samples were 12 each week during an eight week period corresponding from March to April 2017 (96 samples). The analyzed physicochemical parameters were: colour, turbidity, pH, conductivity, alkalinity, total hardness, sulfates, residual free chlorine, nitrites, nitrates and the microbiological parameters were Probability (NMP) for Total Coliforms, and Fecal Coliforms. No statistically significant variation was found between Leg Abuga and Lower East for all parameters analyzed. The physicochemical parameters were within the limits allowed in the regulations used as standard INEN 1108-2014 (color, turbidity, residual free chlorine, nitrites and nitrates), Norm INEN 1108-2006 (pH, hardness, sulfates), NMX 44 -093-SCFI-200 (conductivity) and (alkalinity) of water and Argentine Improving (AYSA), while for microbiological analysis of the week 7 presented values higher than those ones established by Norm INEN 1108-2006 (<2 NMP / 100 ml of water). It is attributed to a deficiency about maintenance of the filters, continuous rains and ruptures of the pipes. Preventive measures were carried out and the results were obtained similar to the other past weeks at the week 8 (<2 NMP / 100 ml of water). The study contributed to the project with information for the evaluation of water quality. Our results will support appropriate measures by the Water Plant Administration to improve quality service to all consumer from this water plant.
